In four years with the Cindy Goza School of Dance, I studied tap, jazz, and ballet (both classical and lyrical). After my first year of classes, I became a demonstrator for the pre-k and beginner classes, and after my third year, I began teaching those classes to pay for my own classes. Also beginning in my second year, I danced in numerous local performances and recitals as well as performing in two consecutive seasons at Magic Springs and Dogpatch, USA. I competed annually in local talent shows and at the regional level at NADAA (National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists) Conventions.
Due to the ailing health of her mother, Miss Cindy had to close her studio and move away after those four wonderful years, and after a brief stint with the Conway School of Dance, I found a new home at Judi King Productions in Clinton, Arkansas. Miss Judi introduced me to new styles of jazz, an advanced tap regimen, and clogging (something I had never done before!). Miss Judi took me under her wing and taught me everything I know about performing, competing, choreography, and most importantly teaching dance!
During my years with Miss Judi, our dance team performed in local, regional and national dance competitions as well as local performances and much bigger venues. My team performed at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge, TN, Opryland, USA in Nashville, TN and finally in Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. We regularly won top honors at DMI (Dance Makes, Inc) competitions and were National Champions at the National Clogging Competition in Branson, MO in 1994. I also helped Miss Judi teach her Pre-K and beginning students.
After a one-year break from dancing, I returned to Arkansas to become an instructor in a new studio owned by Judi King Productions. I taught ballet, tap, jazz, clogging, and country line dancing there for two years before moving to Georgia to start a family with my future husband, Josh Strauch.
Fast-forward a few years, and here we are! It has long been my dream to begin working with young dancers again and to teach them to love dancing the way I always have. I believe in creating a strong fundamental foundation and in making dance an experience that each child will never forget!
